Robot Bird 3D Model

Robot bird 3D model for my Senior Thesis film "When A Tree Falls."
The bird is based off birds of prey, primarily something between an eagle and a vulture. I modeled, rigged and animated the character in Cinema 4D.

Turnaround of the rig, which uses a mix of IK and FK controls.

The wingspan.
The feathers are all parented to the thin armature, which is controlled with an IK system.

There is a fiery light glowing from within the bird, which makes it easy to spot from a distance.

Scratch marks are reflective, which also glow orange under the fiery lights used throughout the film.

Introduction of the character in the film. The size of the character in relation to the setting is important, so I wanted the bird to emerge and look down on its prey while it towers over it.

The bird is designed to be a metaphorical predator, representing deforestation. It is modeled with buzzsaws in its mouth so it can make quick work of the trees in its path.
