Cyclops Character design

Prior to taking any classes in 3D modeling, I created concept art for this cyclops creature as a high school class assignment. Years later, I revisited the design to turn it into a 3D model, using Zbrush. This was a personal project just to show myself how far I've come since deciding to study animation and digital art.

After modeling the character, I made a little digital sculpture out of him, complete with a huge wooden club, and a rough grassy patch of land to serve as the base.

There was a slight redesign process prior to modeling the character. This was, most importantly, done to give him pants. But it also just was a helpful step in building on the original piece, which was done so many years earlier.

After settling on a 2D design, I played around with some facial expressions, giving him some much needed oaf-like characteristics that the original design was lacking.

Using Zspheres, I started by blocking out the character to get a good silhouette.

After the form is blocked out, the zspheres were converted into mesh, and I began sculpting out details.
